Chapter 11
Shako and Daiki were lying about in Shako’s apartment.
“Ah~ I can’t believe you’re going to graduate soon! So what’s your plan for the future?” she asked interestedly.
“Eh? Of course I’m going to university!” He saw Shako frown. “Don’t worry! I’ll still be around. You can’t get rid of me THAT easily!”
“Sou*….Nee Dai-chan…why is it that we always hang out at my place instead of yours? Zurui dayo*” She made a good point.
“Because my parents are home and do you know weird it’d be to bring a girl there?”
“So? I brought you to my house…well my old house..I want to see your house Dai-chan!” she was pleading, “Onegai*?” It wasn’t that Shako hated the fact that Daiki came to her house practically every day; she just wanted a change of scenery. Plus, there was a faint outline of Daiki’s body on her hardwood floor as the sun made the colour of the floor fade. Daiki had sat there so often that there was one spot on the floor that still had its original colour.
“Fine, we’ll go..” Daiki gave in. Recently, he had been having problems saying “no” to Shako’s strange plans.
“Yay!”

The next day, Daiki brought Shako to his house. They were walking along when Shako noticed dark clouds looming above.
“Nee Dai-chan, are those storm clouds?” she asked pointing up to the sky. Shako suddenly moved closer to Daiki.
“Eh? Yea…Maybe. It’s supposed to rain today.” Shako was looked nervous. “Are you okay?” Daiki was starting to worry.
“Eh? Yea…I guess so…”

“Tadaima!*” Daiki opened the door. No one answered. “I guess they went out.” Daiki walked towards the kitchen. “They left a note…..They went to my aunt’s house in Chiba. They won’t be back for a few days.” Daiki told Shako.
“Sou….Wait! Does that mean we’re alone?” Shako was suddenly scared again.
“Hm…I guess it does…What’s with that face? I’m not going to do anything! Jeez you’ve known me for HOW long and you still think I’m a pervert? Thanks for trusting me Shako.”
“You can’t blame a girl for being worried~” Shako was looking around. “It’s just like my parents’ house.” She walked down the hall. “Is this your room?” Daiki nodded, “Kakkoi! Look at all the CDs! I’m surprised you room is actually clean Dai-chan.”
“Hey!” As Shako was exploring, the skies were getting darker and darker.

Rain started falling. The pitter patter on the ground and windows, the sound was calming until the lightning struck.
“KYAAAAA!!!” Shako suddenly clung onto Daiki. She was shaking.
“What’s wrong?” Daiki asked confused with Shako’s sudden actions.
“Ah…eh?” She was searching for an excuse.”…….It was a….spider! Kill it Dai-chan!” She let go of Daiki’s arm and pointed to an empty space on the floor.
“Eh? But there’s nothing there…”
“Oh…I guess it crawled away…” Lighting flashed and was soon followed by thunder. “KYAAAA!” she latched onto his arm again.
“I get it…you’re afraid of thunder and lightning aren’t you…”
“N-no that’s silly, only little kids are afraid of thunderstorms….” She let go of Daiki’s arm again. The booming of the thunder was heard again. Shako screamed and crouched down, her knees against her chest and her hands over her ears. Her eyes were clamped shut and she was shaking uncontrollably.
Daiki took a CD from his shelf and put it into his stereo. He played the music so loudly that it drowned out the sound of the thunder. He told Shako to close her eyes so she wouldn’t see the lightning. Daiki sat down beside Shako on the floor and put his arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer to him. Daiki started to talk to her to distract her from the rain. He babbled about the music that was playing, about past embarrassing moments, anything to keep Shako’s mind off the storm. Even though the music was blasting so loud, Daiki was sitting right next to Shako, talking softly into her ear. She somehow managed to hear him. She nodded in agreement when Daiki mentioned his favourite parts of the songs that were playing and giggled when he said something funny. They sat together for the next hour until the storm passed.
