I still say try something in a middle ground, like The Last Unicorn or The Nightmare Before Christmas or...Oh, maybe The Dark Crystal? Something with some kinda scarry moments for a kid, but not as dark as LotR. Kinda ease her into the idea of a little more adult-scarry while still being kids movies.

Actually, she's already seen The Nightmare Before Christmas, I don't know how many times, and she LOVES IT. We were all amazed. I'm actually thinking of trying her on Labyrinth, since I already own a copy of it.
