Jan 01, 2007 16:17

I'm going to make this easy for all of us.  It's starts on the 2nd for months with 31 days.  Starts on the first for months with 30 days and that includes February.  The challenge will be the same each month for 2007.  Pick YOUR winning combination.

Beginner's Luck:

1.  500 total Push-ups and/or Squats.  Work your arms and/or your ass, your pick.  ( Read more... )

Well, I'm doing the following this month, starting today, because heck, better to move when I'm inspired to.

20 crunches, 10 pushups, 5 min work on the calves, 8 glasses water/ daily
alternating 20 min cardio (dance) and yoga, also on yoga days I'm also doing extra work on the abs and arse (another 10 minutes of targeted work).

That is pretty much the 1/2/3 combo, but specific to my current needs. PT is over, thanks to a month of it, my left knee is up to snuff enough to move forward finally.

I'll continue tracking in my journal. :)

Sign me up for the beginners challenge - and I'll find a cardio that my knee will let me do if I can. The knee is stronger, but I don't want to blow it out. I'm up for 1, 2, & 3. Hopefully as the year goes on, I'll move up the charts.

Together, we'll modify what needs to be modified and you'll surprise yourself. Each month, a bit more only means you're closer to where you want to be.

Ok, last night I tried a video on demand (goodness I sometimes love my cable) cardio blast thingy. Got about 7 minutes in when both the knee ached - ok, little less bending I think - but also my asthma went a bit trigger happy because of my headcold.

Ideas for what I should do until I can breathe clearly again? I don't want to give up just because my lungs are not happy campers right now.

I would suggest Tai Chi. But don't push too hard.

Go to http://exercisetv.tv

Click on the programming tab. Once the video list completes, click on the word Title. That puts the list in alpha-numberic order. Scroll down and look for Beginner Tai Chi 1. It's 20 minutes. You can play this on your PC and practice it. Go slowly and do only what you can.

What the hell, I'm in. I need to get exercising again, I might as well hit the ground running.

I have to stick with 1, 2 and 3 though. I'm so far out of shape that even that seems almost unrealistic.

The truest goal is to try and achieve it. You may surprise yourself. If not, do it again in February and keep going. In three months, you'll be more pleased with yourself and each little bit, adds up.

That's just the way I do it.
