I'm in England! Ra ra!

Mum was not exaggerating about the snow. Wow. The last time I saw this much was in February 2007 and it melted a day later (photos here. This much snow before Christmas is almost unheard of. The clearance is about what I expected (none) and even the motorway had a bit of slush on it. My road is packed snow. The pavements ( ( Read more... )

Thank you. That storm that hit yesterday looks nasty - so glad that I escaped that! Having the Christmas I'd been hoping for feels good.

I don't blame your mum using walking poles, sounds very sensible. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow morning, it was rather icy here this morning, though much of it has melted but will no doubt be back tonight. Hey ho, winter stuff!

The bad thing about the melting is that it will freeze overnight and be lethal tomorrow. I almost prefer it not to melt, because it tends to be safer when it's just packed snow and not packed snow with a layer of ice on top.

I'm feeling very happy to have my snow boots and I may be borrowing a pole when we walk up to the church later.
