How to cheer up when loathing the sight of your own name

Dec 04, 2009 16:26

This week's fannish5 is a repeat which I've done already - Which five dead characters would you resurrect if you could? . Just as well, because I'm totally worn out from writing Christmas mail and other Christmas-related signatures. To paraphrase Yoda, if you writing your name you must seven hundred times, not so well you will look!

However, thanks to

I confess that this episode of Chain Reaction is a permanent fixture on my iPod, it's so brilliantly funny.

I love it when Catherine introduces David with,"Oh what a shame, they don't like you! and then proceeds to ask him, "Were you alright?" for liking Doctor Who as a kid. Priceless. I think Tate at a major sci-fi convention would be beyond hilarious.

She would be. With David as her translator of all things sci fi.:) I just adore them.

My pleasure, it's here.

Also, selenak, you've probably heard this already, but you both may well enjoy David Tennant well and truly embracing his inner music geek with Colin Murray on late night BBC Radio 1 from a few years back. Around Christmas pre-season 3 I think. I'm a big Colin Murray fan, so this was a double delight for me!

Yes, the Richard Schiff story was the only thing I remembered. I'm trying to work out whether this means I did hear it in February 2008 (I might have missed it as it was just when we were going to press) or that Tennant tells that story every time he's on Radio Four, or at least twice. I remember it as Mr Schiff at that point. But he did go up many points in my estimation, wherever I first heard it, to think that he really wants to be a short plump guy with a beard!

Mr. Schiff; I slightly changed it so that any unsuspecting reader would know whom he meant. :) And re: DT's goals in life, that's actorly or fanboy dedication or both. I must confess that while I can understand disliking Ten (we all have our preferences and dislikes, and God knows the character has plenty of flaws), David Tennant dislike is beyond my comprehension, and interviews such as these form a reason as to why.

Did you ever manage to come across a TV quiz one of the British channels ran after The West Wing ended, in which David Tennant was one of the contestants - in some rounds, they had to answer their questions while walking very fast on a treadmill in front of a backdrop of Washington to demonstrate what they'd be like on the show. It was great fun, and I was delighted that they re-ran it at the end of the re-runs.

I've always liked Tennant; as soon as he starts speaking with his natural accent, he's got me eating out of his hand. The Tenth Doctor lacked Mr Tennant's appeal, but I did like him a lot more in partnership with Donna.

I have a copy somewhere. That's when I decided I would watch his season of Doctor Who after all, because I hadn't enjoyed the first season at all.

"I've never seen Star Wars."

"You've never seen -- what, any of them?"

"There's more than one?"

Possibly I can also quote bits of this conversation.

TAMAGOCHI HEAVEN!

Why has no one screenwriter/producer/director whisked them away by a movie or play with them in the leads, that's that I want to know.

What a fantastic interview!

I am quite jealous of British people and their radio-with-studio-audiences. Why can't we have that?

Isn't it just? *is happy to share*

I don't think many of their broadcasts have studio audiences, either, just some.

I have this interview written in my heart. Who DOESN'T want to be Richard Schiff.
