Back to the Garden

Today I finally got back to my garden after about three weeks of being unable to go, due to being out of town, then having my transmission die and need to be rebuilt.  We just got the van back on Thursday.

It was horribly overgrown with weeds, like I figured it would be, and my dwarf pomegranate looked totally dead, with bare branches and little ( Read more... )

Got Earth my body running around my head now. *g* Gaia's Oasis looks and sounds lovely. I'm not surprised you want to go again. I'm glad you got back to your garden. Ours is still largely buried under the snow, but I can see signs of thawing, even though it still snows off and on. I can see the wood of the bird table for the first time in days.

Isn't it great? Well, I've had various Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac songs in MY head all weekend! And what was worse, I'd left all their CDs at work, so I couldn't even give it the "hair of the dog" treatment to see if it would make them go away... ;-)

What surprised me is that I wasn't totally upset and grumpy about the mess in my garden. I expected to be, so that was a nice surprise. I guess 2010 will be the 'Year of Cleaning Up'. Because that's about how long I see it taking me to get rid of all those damned weeds.

Oh yes, I can get a song stuck for days sometimes, and no matter how many others I hear, as soon as it goes quiet, back comes 'that' song again. *g*

I have a bramble still being a pain. I need to eradicate it somehow this year. I let it grow because I wanted the fruit, but it didn't provide much, so it has to go. I think I posted how much we already got rid of a few months ago, but there is still a lot beneath the surface to tackle.

Perhaps you could try cutting it all the back to the main stem (over time, if it's really big), then digging out the root? It's a PAIN, I know, but other than poisoning it, it might be the only way to get rid of it completely.
