Back to the Garden

Today I finally got back to my garden after about three weeks of being unable to go, due to being out of town, then having my transmission die and need to be rebuilt.  We just got the van back on Thursday.

It was horribly overgrown with weeds, like I figured it would be, and my dwarf pomegranate looked totally dead, with bare branches and little dead fruits hanging on it.  BUT... at the very bottom, some new green leaves are already coming out.  She is coming back!

Although my wrist is acting up again and I've been wearing a brace for the last four days, I spent about 1.5 hours pulling weeds and clearing the gate area and space around the pomegranate.  I was very careful, and my wrist only twinged once, thankfully.  I also cleaned the bird bath and feeder dish, refilled both, and watered and mixed my compost pile.

When I was getting ready to leave, I felt the need to call on Mother Earth and ask Her to bless my garden with a good year of growing, except for the weeds, of course!  Then I stretched out my hands and started singing the "Earth my body" chant...  I could feel energy coming up from the ground, through my feet, and up into my arms and out my hands, flowing over the garden.  It was awesome, and I could have stayed there for a VERY long time doing that.

After I got home, I was still in a "gardeny" mood, so I did a Middle World journey to Gaia's Oasis, this awesome place in California where our coven has had the privilege of having several weekend retreats in the past.  I'd LOVE to go again, but it requires at least five people in the group, and right now our group just does not have the funds for a weekend trip.  However, this journey was just what  I needed, a sort of spiritual "pick-me-up".  I was surprised how many little details I actually remember about the place.

For those interested, here is the URL to their website.  Be sure to click on the link to play the nature sounds on the main page...
