it's good news, but i wouldn't hold my breath for a lot of "what happens next". the word is they released her because they just finished their sham-elections, and have concluded that for the immediate future she's a manageable threat. there's a lot of exciting potential here, but the people who made the call are pretty clearly not intending it as the kind of gesture we might be hoping for.
Oh, clearly. However, in previous iterations of the same situation, they've immediately put her back under house arrest when she became involved in politics. According to her statement this morning, she has no intention of staying out of politics this time either, so we'll see if she stays free. If not, there are murmurings of international intervention from other Asian countries, including both Japan and South Korea.
I think it's almost certain that *something* will happen next. It's just a matter of what.
