Book Meme!

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed. Well, let's see.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them.

I suspect that The Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe is listed separately from the Chronicles of Narnia for the same reason that Hamlet is listed separately from the Complete Works of Shakespeare: The average person has probably only read the first book in the series or one or two Shakespeare plays (though if my co-workers are anything to go by, the average person has never read anything by CS Lewis or Shakespeare and isn't capable of sounding out words longer than two sylables(sp?)).

I believe it's a list of most-printed books by one of those huge mixed-bag publishing companies, with the stats on who's read what coming from the American Library Association. That's what I read from the original poster, anyway.
