[Mithos has been back from his brief tangle with death for a day now, and with his journal now in his possession once more, it seems very necessary to call on the only person who he can call 'friend'. Times like these call for support, and not just because he's lost function in one leg. Unable to live on his own in this condition, he finds himself in a...less than ideal living situation. He doesn't know; he really just doesn't know. But speaking with Kaori always helps...]

Kaori, it's me... I just wanted to talk. [It feels like it's been too long. He wonders if she was alright while he was gone.]

[voice - November 5th]

Why are you with him? He's...a human.

[shaking his head] ...I don't understand. [because she doesn't seem to be there against her will, and she didn't seem afraid of him... It doesn't add up.]

[voice - November 5th]

[... And then her blood runs cold, hearing him speak those questions out loud. Kaori is well aware that Frey was a Human - no matter how close they have become over the past months, that thought still comes across her mind when she least expects it or simply when she's enjoying spending time with him. But there was undeniably that part of her that would always fear, and perhaps even expect that he would someday hurt her... or outright abandon her like everyone else in her life seems to have done.

But she had decided to answer him honestly, and had no intention of changing her mind about that now.] He's... he's my brother... [Except he wasn't really.] He thought it would be better that I stay with him...

[voice - November 5th]

[Frey had referred to her as his 'little sister' before...but he knows they aren't related, and Kaori's brother is not human, so...?] Kaori, he's a human. [more pressing]

You would trust his judgment? Do you honestly think he has your best interests in mind? He's tricking you, he's... You know humans can't be trusted. [his mind is racing and his heart is producing a thousand feelings at once and his mouth can't keep up with it all]

[voice - November 5th]

I know about... about Humans. [It's why she hated this place and found herself occasionally wanting to go home with all her might so she wouldn't have to be so confused anymore. But every time she talks to Frey... he's always honest, and had always been there despite the terrible things she had done, sometimes even to him.

And she hated it.]

[voice - November 5th]

Then how can you live with one? [Pot, kettle. But his circumstances are different, and he's struggling with the very idea so hard. It's impossible to be at ease.]

I'm not even sure how I'm able to. [Honestly, what is she thinking? It's been weeks since she came to live here, and it was still uncomfortable to be in the house for extended periods of time when a significant number of her housemates were home.

... But it trumped being alone...]

[voice - November 5th]

Live somewhere else, then, if you don't trust him! [He doesn't realize he's raising his voice; he's just so confused and scared for her.]

Why would you put yourself through that? [if it weren't for his reduced mobility, he would never have chosen to come live with Sayo. He would never have to face the confusion of her kindness and patience, the struggle of avoiding what could only be a false sense of security.]

[... But she never said she didn't trust Freyjadour. If she had to be honest with herself, there would be no way for her to deny that somewhere along the way a small part of her had begun to trust Freyjadour outside of the promise they had found themselves upholding.]

... Where else should I go, Mithos...?

[....Where can one like them go? They're not wanted anywhere... But she could at least put walls between herself and anyone who might try to hurt her. Doesn't she understand that?]

What was wrong with living by yourself? [When had she started staying with Frey anyway? He had visited her at her apartment just a few weeks ago... Had he already been killed, or did it start before then? He could have offered her somewhere to stay... He just bites his lip.]

[voice - November 5th]

... It wasn't safe anymore... [And probably still isn't; the memory of what Legato had done to her had come back vividly when she found herself telling Frey about him, and even though a few weeks had passed she still had nightmares relating to what had happened, and occasionally during the day she would find herself inexplicably terrified. House 15 was closer to the southern part of the village than CH4 had been.]

[...he realizes that was a stupid question to ask. He worried about her all by herself. Still...] Why move in with him, though? You could have said something, and... [trails off; different thread of thought because there are too many at once]

I don't want you to get hurt, Kaori.

[voice - November 5th]

... Because he confuses me... [And she'd like to think that the promise they had made would be enough to keep him from hurting her for now. She's fully aware that she's taking a big risk, but what else was she supposed to do?]

... You'd let me stay with you?

[voice - November 5th]

I...I would have... [except now he realizes maybe it wouldn't work out the best. Blind leading crippled, crippled leading blind. But they could trust each other, and that counts for something.]

If he confuses you, that's just another reason to stay away.

Would have? [Did that only refer to the time she had decided to leave her apartment to take refuge in House 15, or that he would no longer extend the invitation? Whatever it was, it leaves her throat feeling dry and with a sinking feeling in her stomach.]

Mithos...

I still would! [they would be able to figure it out... His heart and mind race, each trying to keep up with the other. He still doesn't understand, why she's even in this situation, and it's beginning to make him desperate.]

You don't have to live with someone you don't trust.
