Kaori, it's me... I just wanted to talk. [It feels like it's been too long. He wonders if she was alright while he was gone.]

She was back. Had she heard....? It didn't matter. He'd said nothing he regretted. And he couldn't exactly close the journal on the other now.]
Welcome back, Kaori. You forgot your journal.

Kaori?! Kaori!

All these emotions swirled by in less time than it would take to blink, and before she even realizes the extent of them she is walking forward, nearly charging toward the older man with her teeth clenched and expression clearly livid. Frey wasn't supposed to know about him, she was going to protect him in all the ways she could, and if that meant hiding her friendship with Mithos so be it, but she would not allow for Frey to separate them if she could avoid it.]
Give that to me!

.....She really cared for him, didn't she? But Mithos would hurt her. There was no avoiding it. Eventually, eventually he would. Still, Frey couldn't force her to avoid him. He couldn't take that choice from her and never would. It wasn't like with Lymsleia, who was still a child. He'd have to do his best to protect her indirectly.
She might feel the sadness, the worry for her and slight resignation as he stands and holds the journal out.] Here. You have my apologies for taking the call.

Kaori, are you alright? Did he hurt you? Why are you-- What's going on?

I'm right here. [Her voice cracks just a little when she words that, that familiar stinging moistness returning to her eyes just knowing that he's still here in the village. Had he gone home - no, had he returned to that place that didn't want him, where he wouldn't wake up again... she didn't know what she would do. That thought alone is what makes her waver and nearly start crying right then and there.]
Where have you been...? I thought...

He shouldn't be here. She didn't want him here, and obviously he'd grossly underestimated this situation. So he turns, heading out the front door and quietly making an exit to give her... time with Mithos.
The very idea is counterproductive, but he hasn't a clue what he can do about any of this anymore. He won't be back to the house until dark at least, so she'll have plenty of time to talk to him.]

I was... [He almost can't tell her; her reaction when she found out that he had been killed in his world is imprinted clearly in his memory. He doesn't want her to worry about him too much... But it's unavoidable, isn't it? He...can't hide it from her... Softly, but with obvious underlying anger and resentment:] Yuan killed me.
[He feels like he's holding his breath in, waiting for her to respond. Dreading, worrying.]

Killed.
Someone had killed Mithos.
That single word echoes over and over in her head, each time pushing back her previous fear and replacing it with a dose of venomous anger. Who would have dared-]
Tell me about him. Now.

[Sickening. Repulsive. But.....had Yuan really betrayed Martel, when the things he, Mithos, had done for her sake did not truly follow her wishes...? Had the one to betray Martel been--? The thought is quiet enough to be drowned out by his loathing and rage, but it still hangs there for a brief moment like a sour note.]

How could he...?

...well that just about derails his anger. He can't keep it burning through the uncertainty.]
...I don't know.

... Hey, Mithos? Do you want me to come see you? [Though... she has never been told where he lives or stays. How would she be able to find him without risking exposing that he's returned to that awful man?]

But... His mind races back to all of the questions he hasn't asked yet. The uncertainty is only getting worse.]
Kaori.....can I ask you something first?
