Spock eyed his companion - this counterpart had seen only the briefest glimpse of sickbay and the confines of the room he shared with Pike. But Spock would not question the Acting Captain's order to include him. He would be of benefit, particularly with his practical knowledge of Romulans and their ways

There was only one choice to be made left, even if it would displease her crew.
She beamed away all enemy organics back to the Enterprise, minus the organic communicating with her.

There was a familiar high thrumming whine, and a gathering of sparks in front of him, spreading amber and white.
"No!" But it was too late.
George was gone. His other companion, too.
That left--Spock.
Ayel kept the weapon between them, tightened his grip. "Stay where you are."
It wasn't supposed to go this way! He stepped back. And the ship moved under him; he stumbled, made a grab for the wall.
It shouted to him, inside, just under his forehead. (Fear, anger, worry--) all around him, everywhere.
Narada?
She had found her voice. Beautiful. And loud.
He had no idea how to answer her.

Narada was waking up around him, straining herself to communicate with the Romulan before him. Spock raised his hand in the customary greeting.
"Live long and prosper, second-in-command of Narada."

Damn it, Spock, you didn't have to do this! The price is too high. I won't pay it. They're all here. All but you.
That's not good enough.

I do not believe Narada wishes me harm. And I shall trust in you to retrieve me when this business is concluded.
They are safe. Whatever comes or is required, Spock is content with that.

What business is that, Spock? What's going on?
Did he mean it was a specific task he was being kept for, or was he a hostage? He didn't have enough information.

She is a sentient lifeform, Jim. It is fascinating.

He wasn't feeling terribly logical at the moment. He wanted Spock back. Wanted him out of the enemy's hands, whatever impressions he was getting. But he was also Spock's captain. And he understood Spock's fascination. He understood the agreement. Would have made the same one.
It wouldn't matter, if he didn't get Spock back. He's take over the Enterprise, do anything he had to do. For now, he was not content to wait, but he'd do it anyway.
Come back to me, Spock. Implied, of course, was Jim's agreement both that this was necessary, and that he would get him.

It was like a scream or a stutter or both: Where, where, please...
No, that wouldn't work. Focus. Think in commands, the same as console input.
IMPERATIVE!: Location: alha.
"Ayel," he said, breathing out slow as he set the disruptor down. "You are Spock."
This was what his friends called him; the Vulcan's entire name was a matter of historical record, but there was no reason to antagonize him with Nero hurt and all his own options gone.
He lifted his hand, couldn't mimic the sign, drew back awkwardly. "Jolan'tru." He knew the right words, if not the right language, and pushed them over his tongue: "Peace and long life."

He nods acknowledgement.
"Your Narada is quite fascinating, Ayel. She has requested that I offer assitance to your captain."
The High Vulcan is similar enough to be understood.

"I know Standard," he offered with a shrug. Spock had been talking to her, to their ship...
Jealousy would not help his captain.
"She's a wonder." He could feel his lips quirk upward as he said it. "I--she says--" He shook his head. Spock would know. If they had been talking, then Spock could hear her. "Environmental's this way, one deck down." He pointed. "Salvage is--" past where we had your captain "on this deck; some med gear there."
He paused. "Hrrau phralae-- do you read Klingon?" He bit his lip. "And--can you tell her all that? Or release the console, so I can; she might not let you."
He very carefully did not think about his clearance code.
The next word was strange and raw from years of making too many threats: "Please."
