Spock arrived before Jim, to find Leonard's note, old-fashioned scrawl on actual paper.
"Gone to town. L."
He tracked a fingertip over the initial, a sentimental gesture he would not have allowed himself even in the presence of the actual man. Spock left the note and moved to one of the chairs in front of the empty fireplace. Perhaps tonight... a fire.
Jim was still in turmoil, emotions roiling and shifting faster than Spock could name them. The need to aid his bondmate caught Spock more strongly than he thought possible. He waited for Jim.
