Why is it people get all freaky around weddings? I don't fully understand it, myself. But, this is my wedding. Of course this is our weddings, and I understand that, I'm not bridezillaing here. My mom, on the other hand. Holy shit

People love to shove their expectations down other throats. But you're right, it's YOUR wedding and YOU get to choose how it goes. Break rules, traditions, and expectations. You don't live your life by others' standards. Why would you start accepting them now?
FWIW, my Mom had a fit that I wanted a cathedral length train at a semi-formal, outdoor wedding. I told her that Martha Stewart wasn't invited. ;)
