Now if only the shops stocked computer games, and computers to play them on... What other ways are there to pass the time? Aside from school. Do I have to go to school here too? The guide mentions it.

I can't tell you a lot about the school, since I don't attend of course, but I don't think it's really mandatory. Don't quote me on it or anything, but it is a nice way to meet people if you want to. As for passing time, you can always do a lot of outdoor activities and the like!
