The evening turned unacceptably ridiculous with explosions and whistles ranging from single firecrackers to rapid-fire cracklings to cannon booms. It ran virtually nonstop until about midnight and came from homes all around us. My poor Vinnie was terrified and TRIED to get under/behind the couch where a 60 pound dog just can't fit.

Poor baby :( I wish people would stop and think about that - and about veterans, a lot of whom have PTSD. Bah.
