He crouches on the jungle floor, alone, and as he spots his journal a few feet ahead of him he’s overwhelmed with a mad desire to rip it apart, to tear it to pieces to match the state of his aching, bleeding heart, because he thought he knew what to do, he thought everything in it would save them, he thought it would save her.
First section in and you've already got me teary! ;) Really--this is beautiful and heartwrenching. This is very true to Dan.
The second section is so short, but it kills me, gahhh. I could feel his paralysis.
Oh, wow, the dreams! That's such a terrifying image, not!Charlotte with the blood trickling from her mouth--it reminds me of Ana Lucia in Eko's dream, actually. It's so effective and awful and sad, the whole concept. The idea of Dan just lying there with his hands covering his face is a haunting one. And the last line was wonderful:
And he can’t stand the way she looks at him now.!!! I love that he still thinks of Charlotte as looking at him, even though it all ( ... )
