Charlie makes good bait. At least Ana recognises and values that he survives the role. Charlie has a surprising amount of stuff tucked away in his brain, doesn't he? Everything from polar bear IQ to marksmanship to making baby carriers--where does he pick it all up? He may be a jack-of-trades-master-of-none, but everyone keeps looking at the master-of-none and forgeting how useful the jack-of-all part is.

"It made me want to see it go just a little bit further"--be careful what you wish for. At one point, the ending scene's conversation was so full of double entendres that I was afraid they were going to jump each other then and there. I kept looking at my word count and saying, "Guys, I don't want to do a two-parter...and this will never fly at the Fuselage, you know." I'm glad you liked it. I'm hoping for more with the anti-Claire (good one!). I have an idea for keeping Michael from killing Ana and Libby, but there are so many things going on in the last few episodes of season 2 that I need to do some research to see where all the ( ... )

I think there's more Chana. I have two scenes: I know where Ana gets the gun and why she doesn't get shot with it, but I need to work out how to get to that scene and where to go from it. You have more experience with writing than I do; does this sort of thng happen to you? I often get just an image or a situation and then have to work out the fic to put around it. The germ of this one was that Charlie found Aaron because he was short enough to see under branches that blocked the others' sightline and I had to work out why Aaron was there &c. &c. Creepy and Pointless (current not-working title) started from a verse of a song that called up an image of Charlie bringing Aaron's crib to shore--only it was a different cradle.

Chana was a dynamic that really wasn't explored all that much on the show and as rabid a C/C shipper as I am, I always enjoyed their interaction. This fic in particular was a real treat

My favourite moment was when Charlie was talking to Ana about her baby - how he thinks it would have been a girl, what she might've looked like... Ana's pain at the images he creates and then his reassurances to her are very touching, and although sad, they're also heartwarming.

A lovely piece. Thank you for sharing!

Chana was kind of blink-and-you'll-miss-it, but I am finding that I enjoy writing it. Part of it is that I like writing with a bit of sarcasm and I'm afraid C/C is not the ship for that. I'd like to think that the two Cs might have picked up a bit of snarky humor in their relationship once they learned to know and trust each other better (think Rose and Bernard as young tow-heads).

I'm glad you liked Charlie and Ana's talk about the baby. Charlie tends to talk without thinking, so I could see the look on his face when he suddenly realized the picture in his mind from which he got comfort hurt Ana. I found Ana's habit of drinking and flirting in bars took on an extra meaning when it hit me that she couldn't have done that if she were still pregnant/partnered, so it was a way to forget that carried memory with it.

Thanks for reading!

Excellent. Your writing (especially your dialogue) is really sharp and engaging. I love your Charlie/Ana bond. These two were the underdogs of the camp in S2 and you have given them some great things to connect over - the loss of their babies, the mutual grudge against the Others, etc. I'm always thinking how the writers were so cruel towards Charlie, but they were horrible to Ana too. She had been through such a hard time, but she was really growing as a person...then she gets murdered.

I also love Charlie's little chats with Aaron. So funny and adorable!

I'm glad you liked the dialogue, as it tends to make me nervous, trying to get the voices right. Maybe it's the double snark effect, but I can hear Charlie's and Ana's conversations pretty well if I can get them started and hold them to the right topic. Do you find that your characters give you chunks of dialogue that have nothing to do with where your story's headed and it can take forever to get something appropriate to the point at hand? (Actually, I can get a similar effect writing emails, so maybe it's just me.)

Charlie and Ana both needed some fun second season. As you say, the writers were cruel to them and cruel to everyone--even Rose and Bernard sounded like they were sniping more than playful. We were only beginning to see Ana before she died and what we saw was all sad or angry. I want to know the Ana that Danny moved in with, the Ana Big Mike knew before the shooting--the one who wasn't sad or angry (just ticked off occasionally). And if I can give Charlie some fun in the process, better still--he needs it as much as she.

I think your dialogue is great! I think the fact that you consider your dialogue and getting the character's voices is a good thing. I think other writers don't give it enough thought.

Me too!! And thanks to your fics I AM getting to know her.

Aww. Such an awesome fic!
Ana deserved to have someone to talk to about her baby (and it didn't look forced that she told someone so soon!), she deserved interaction with Aaron/Claire too. I'm glad she got it here, thank you for writing it! :)
Personally, I'm glad it wasn't shippy Chana, it's not my cup of tea. ;) But I do enjoy Ana/Charlie interaction - well, maybe except for the scene on the show when he told her the last time she had a gun, she killed someone ('cause so did he, and he did it intentionally.) But for some reason I'm totally willing to forgive him this - even more after this fic. :D

Thank you! Ana needed some interaction with the lower-ranking beach people; she was good to watch with Eko and Libby and the integration of the two groups of 815ers could have gotten more attention from the writers. I enjoyed watching Ana and Charlie because they shared snark, temper, and lack of self-control, but in different degrees. Charlie's snipe about Ana's last gun use was disingenious, to say the least, but she left herself open after her insult implying that Charlie couldn't possibly know how to use a gun. I think the only thing Charlie has over Ana (and it's not much) is that he is more efficient in his murders. Ana killed one person out of revenge (Jason Cop-Shooter) and another person out of fear (Shannon); Charlie managed to combine his revenge-killing and his fear-killing in one homicide--and he buried the corpse. Of course, I am a sucker for a pretty snark, and snark is what Chana is all about. Thanks for reading.
