*slumps* So tired. We have house guests coming tomorrow and staying for three nights (!) so there was a big flurry of cleaning and preparing today. The apartment looks relatively pristine, but I'm pooped!
(
This morning I finally finished watching the U.K. version of Queer as Folk. )

I'm saving the recs for a time when I'm more able to have my heart ripped out, because the descriptions alone make me wibbly. But thanks!

One thing I didn't mention above is that the U.K. version really presented a more realistic scenario...I mean, how likely is it that the first person you sleep with would end up being your one and only, especially if you're as young as Justin and Nathan are? Not that I'm questioning the U.S. version, since obviously Brian and Justin are OMG MEANT TO BE -- but there is something more gritty and real about the U.K. version, which I really appreciated.
As for the recs, yeah, I'm not always in the mood for angst either. But I do hope you enjoy them when you're up for them!

I am one of those who loves the original UK version of QAF. A completely different show from the US one: less angsty and less romantic, but beautifully written and acted, I think. Also with more social commentary, Stuart and Vince being fundamentally working class children, with everyting that comes with it.
The scene where Stuart tells Vince the names of all the actors who played Dr Who, in chronological order has to be one of the funniest and most original love declarations I've ever seen.

Oh my god, yes. That was a magnificent scene. As soon as it was over I immediately watched it again. :-D
I agree that the U.K. version had wonderful writing and acting (I adore the U.S. version, but you have to admit there were some really clunky lines -- and plotlines -- on occasion). The U.K. series is definitely less romantic and more...quirky and real, somehow. I'm thinking of that scene toward the end where Stuart makes a gun with his fingers and holds it against Andrew's mother's head. It was kind of a bizarre moment, but I believed it.
