I love that last article, I actually have a PhD student who is so taken with it that he's thinking of incorporating some of the ideas into his dissertation on the spatial distribution of hate crimes.

I haven't been reading a lot of fanfic because I find it increasingly difficult to navigate AO3 now, especially with the tumblr style tagging trend that seems to tag every conceivable character and pairing even if they are only mentioned in passing...so the story is never actually about the pair you're reading for...rant over. sorry.

Yeah, I've definitely run into that tagging thing! There's also just so much bad fic to weed through. I've found myself going back to my own old recs for fic instead of wading through the morass.
