Handwavey fanon Genosha where everyone lives and is happy is in the Southern Hemisphere for this prompt. I'd like some fic or art that deals with the holiday season happening in the summertime. One of my pet peeves is that holiday fests often forget that for some countries December means warm weather, swimming, salads, and (unfortunately) cricket. I don't mind if the mutants are weirded out because they're used to snow, love it, celebrate traditional holidays, make up their own holiday, or whatever, just mutants having fun in the sun instead of making hot chocolate and rugging up. I would be happy to have comics mutants in this prompt, if you want them there.

Prompt: Again, another one that could be totally gen, or could be Charles/Erik. I see this more as a gen or team-plus-pairing prompt in my head, but if you'd prefer to write a shippy fic, go for it because I will never say no to a shippy fic. :)
Something about sharing one's traditional recipes and favourite foods, and the closeness and comfort that can bring. I could see this going in a few directions, so it could be direct comfort (like this STXI fic: http://barrowjane.livejournal.com/1555.html) but if you just wanted to make the Xavier School cookbook or a potluck where everyone brings a plate, something like that would work just as well. I'm curious about what foods you think go with which people, and how they share themselves and their cultures. There's a word that connotes the kind of thing I mean better than I can say it...it refers to when you're sitting with friends and/or family and sharing food and wine, and you're all close and comfortable. If you google "hygge", you'll get some examples of what I mean.

Erik has been a slave/captive/whatevs on the evil side of things for many years. When he finally escapes and gets lost in the snow en route to freedom, he's found and taken in by the world's most trusting and adorable toy-making elf, Charles, who has no idea that "Santa" isn't using the toys for good. Together they bring down the old Santa and install someone better in his place (this could be Charles, it could be the real Santa, whatever works for your idea). Charles does not have as firm a grip on reality as he appears.
Due to his rather unhappy childhood, Charles has learned early on how to handle his loneliness and depression by ensconcing himself in his mind. At first, he creates a mental 'sanctuary', possibly in the form of a cozy library, where he retreats to whenever the stress threatens to overwhelm him. It kept him sane and helped him retain a firm sense of self. Once Raven came into his life, reality became much brighter: he had a companion, he moved away from his stepfather, he graduated, and he met Erik. Charles found himself less in need of using his safety net.
However, this tenuous happiness disappeared after Cuba. Not only is Charles devoid of his best friend (let's pretend Charles met Erik earlier and they knew each other for much longer) and his sister, but he has also lost use of his lower body. The bed rest that being hospitalized forces him into gives him lots of time in his mental sanctuary. He is emotionally shattered and in an effort to cope, Charles convinces himself that his reality could not be real. Charles's sanctuary shifts to accommodate his delusion and turns into a world where Cuba never happened and everything is still good. And every time Charles actually wakes up on his hospital bed, he thinks he is dreaming.
Long story short: Let's turn Charles into Mal from Inception. Cuba was traumatic enough that Charles hides in his mind to cope. After awhile, he stops being able to tell which 'side' is real and which is made up.

If you google "hygge", you'll get some examples of what I mean.

I'd like the hurt-comfort to go both ways, please. Both Erik and Charles are hurt. Erik's is more visible, Charles' less visible but equally or even more severe. Charles initially hides his own injuries and takes care of Erik, but his condition steadily worsens. Basically, everything goes downhill before it all gets better. Erik eventually realises that Charles is also hurt and takes care of him. All the while, they have to move to safety/get help. (Specific prompt is specific. D: Sorry, it's a formula I've found to particularly like, but I'm completely flexible with whatever scenario you choose to throw the boys in.)

Charles does not have as firm a grip on reality as he appears.
Due to his rather unhappy childhood, Charles has learned early on how to handle his loneliness and depression by ensconcing himself in his mind. At first, he creates a mental 'sanctuary', possibly in the form of a cozy library, where he retreats to whenever the stress threatens to overwhelm him. It kept him sane and helped him retain a firm sense of self. Once Raven came into his life, reality became much brighter: he had a companion, he moved away from his stepfather, he graduated, and he met Erik. Charles found himself less in need of using his safety net.
However, this tenuous happiness disappeared after Cuba. Not only is Charles devoid of his best friend (let's pretend Charles met Erik earlier and they knew each other for much longer) and his sister, but he has also lost use of his lower body. The bed rest that being hospitalized forces him into gives him lots of time in his mental sanctuary. He is emotionally shattered and in an effort to cope, Charles convinces himself that his reality could not be real. Charles's sanctuary shifts to accommodate his delusion and turns into a world where Cuba never happened and everything is still good. And every time Charles actually wakes up on his hospital bed, he thinks he is dreaming.
Long story short: Let's turn Charles into Mal from Inception. Cuba was traumatic enough that Charles hides in his mind to cope. After awhile, he stops being able to tell which 'side' is real and which is made up.

Charles' family are noblemen and close to the king, after his parent's deaths in an accident (most likely by Shaw) Charles plans to use his power within the kingdom (and telepathy) to overthrow Shaw but is foiled by himself being in an 'accident' and losing his legs. So he submits himself to simply planning with Hank, Alex + Sean (a doctor and two servant boys respectfully) to prevent Shaw from continuing his tyranny.
Enter Erik, from another kingdom which was attacked by Shaw, who comes to Genosha as a 'visitor', but plans to kill the man who killed his parents.
(Erik reluctantly joins up with Charles and the others to overthrow Shaw and put Charles in power...or something like that)
