Vin glanced at her phone, eyeing the countdown that had been running for the past week. Less than hour left....
She crouched on the roof of a building across from the Cultural Center, practically feeling the waves of power rolling from it. Something was going to happen, she had to know what....
Linkara didn't particularly want to be on the ground for this one. Maybe it had something to do with seeing Franky go sailing out a window a few days back, but right now Linkara figured maybe the high ground was a good thing to have, even if he wasn't the type to go leaping from rooftop to rooftop. Ever.
Not that he was going to try anything stupid, what with all the magic coming off that building. He'd had enough stupid semi-suicidal acts to last him a lifetime by now.
It figured that the one rooftop he chose would be the one with Vin on it. It just figured. "Hey," he greeted her, crossing the rooftop to stand next to her. "Seen anything different, or is that building still nothing but a mass of paranoia and magic?"
The sound of footsteps coming up to the roof alerted Vin to Linkara's approach before he even set foot on the roof. She stood where she was at the edge, her head turned just enough to watch from the corner of her eye. When she saw it was Linkara she relaxed, if only slightly, and slid the coins held between her fingers back into her coat pocket.
"No change so far." She shook her head, turning her attention back to the Cultural Center. "But there's still almost a half an hour left on the countdown."
Derek had been walking, keeping some attention to the countdown on the device. It troubled him like how that not right feeling, not right sounding was everywhere.
He kept his grip on the nightstick tight and made sure he hadn't lost Morris' fedora.
"You seem tense," Karrin remarked as she came up behind the man in a suit. She was heading back in. The countdown had her antsy as well and even though she knew it was dangerous, she couldn't just stay holed up in the hotel all the time.
The whole city seemed to have a nervous air about it. Karrin didn't have any sort of 6th sense but she knew her town...or had gotten used to this fake town. There was something in the air that even she could feel.
The Agent lifted his head at the approaching tune, not surprised when he didn't recognize it. (That was the case with everyone.) He gave a slight nod to the woman.
"Mysterious Countdown's rarely good." Derek checked his phone again, frown tightening a bit. "Not sure what to expect except that it'll be unexpected."
Karrin glanced down at the phone she had been carrying in her hand for some time. It was hard not to watch that clock. "Yeah, no kidding. Especially since we have no idea what is being counted down to. It's about as ominous as everything else that has been happening though."
She paused before pocketing the phone again, "I'm Karrin Murphy by the way. Sorry I snuck up on you...been sort of antsy since the countdown popped up."
Clare gathered up some much needed supplies before coming here. Which she decided was the right call given she could feel the ice cold metal of the pendant on her chest.
Clare didn't neglect any of her armaments, as well as her new armored glove for her left hand. A make-shift shield for herself if she needs to block more items than her sword can manage on its own. She also had both kevlar and chainmail on under her jacket.
An hour until whatever bad thing was coming now, great...
It wasn't like he had a clue what was going on, but if Clare was going, you can bet your ass Declan would be there. Just like everyone else, he didn't know what the timer was about, but if this was some sort of last stance, it'd be a grand one.
The ninja was tense. Very tense. Something was amiss, he could tell long ago. And this unusual countdown was not helping.
He watched from what he hoped was a safe distance from the cultural center. He could feel his hairs standing on end. He hoped whatever was happening was something he could face.
She didn't know why she was here. This sort of thing really wasn't for her, this doom and gloom and We're All Going To Die. She would have been a lot happier, probably, if she had just stayed in her hotel room with Jayne and waited for news.
But, somehow, Kaylee was there, waiting just as anxiously as everyone else. The bag over her shoulder carried the normal tools and supplies. One hand was carefully wrapped around the watch in her pocket. It might come in handy, depending on what all went down here.
