It was a place that was less then kind to people who used any sort of magic, or so Granny had heard. She wasn't at all sure that she trusted the people who'd said it one whit, of course, and she wasn't about to let what they'd said get in the way of her doing things but it was what they had said. Everything else that had happened had just been another story. One of the older ones. Darkness and light and power.

And mirrors, somewhere in it. That was the irritating part. They'd all been too damned focused on everything else. It'd serve them right if it turned out to have been important. For not asking her opinion on the damned mirror magic. But no, they'd had to be blind fools about it.

The fact that no one could have known that she knew about the perils of mirror magic didn't stop her. Even after this long she hadn't quite gotten used to the idea that no one here seemed to understand what a witch was and that was most likely the reason that had driven her out to the place she'd arrived. Where one person had shown up, more ( ... )

Draco meanwhile scowled. How was he was supposed to go home if somebody placed a non-Apparating charm about the area? He held his wand out again before him to get another good look.

He then blinked at the person approaching. It actually looked a bit like Headmaster McGonagall from here.

Of course. It had to be a wizard. The place was already too full of them and here was another. Still, Granny didn't blink in the slightest at the light of the wand. Not being able to see the person on the other end of spell was slightly inconvenient, but no matter. She'd had worse pointed at her.

The light did catch the attention of the cat draped across her shoulders, however, and she turned her head in Draco's direction as well, eyes gleaming in the darkness.

"You'll want to point that somewhere else," Granny commented, with a tone of voice that suggested that it would be best to obey.

Clearly not the Headmaster if those eerie glowing eyes were any indication, but the elder witch certainly sounded like her. He scowled more before finally lowering the wand to his side after dismissing the charm.

"Where is this? Is there an non-Apparating spell in place?"

For once, Thomas hadn't taken the motorcycle. Instead he'd walked from the Hard Rock Hotel to the Blackstone and now found himself having to either walk back in the waning light or 'liberate' one of the cars left empty and unclaimed between the two hotels.

As he walked past Millennium Park, he eased the duffel bag from his shoulder and kept it in easy reach. He remembered the vampires all too well, and as far as he could tell there was not going to be any helpful dragon's fire from above to take care of anything should he run into a trap.

Something flickered out of the corner of his eye, a wan light, and Thomas drew a sawed-off shotgun out of the bag. He was too far away for his demon's senses to get a good read on whatever it was. "Someone there?"

Draco's mouth was in a thin disapproving line as he slowly moved forward. Well if he can't leave, he needed to find some place more secure than here. He kept his wand with the small light at the end out before him.

"Who's there?" He called out. "Show yourself!"

Thomas cautiously kept the shotgun against his leg as he peered into the darkness. By the light whoever (whatever) it was was holding, he could make out a shape, slender and human. Of course, human shaped didn't mean terribly much in this city, but it at least meant it wasn't a troll or something else big and too dumb to put faerie glamour.

"I asked first, sweetheart," he drawled instead, taking slow steps forward.

"What does that matter? For all I know, you're from the Ministry or a Death Eater."

Yes, Draco was something of a hypocrite, though he never claimed to be an enthusiastic follower of the Dark Lord, especially once he realized how over his head he was.

He needed more light, why was it so blasted dark around here? He couldn't even see the stars from all the cloud cover. There was then a flash of lightning in the distance, and the other figure became a little more clear. Human clearly, though whether they were a wizard or a stupid muggle remained to be seen.

Stella wandered around with a ball of light floating around her head just in case it got dark quickly. She glanced around the place before she noticed Draco.

Draco kept his wand in front of him, but noticed the figure with a similar light by them.

"Who's there?"

Stella was pleasantly surprised that she wasn't attacked on sight.

"Stella of Solaria!" She announced "Who are you?"

Without a better view, he was remaining cautious.

"Draco," he replied simply even as he wondered what kind of place would call themselves Solaria? It sounded more like a spell than a place to live!

Tonks was wandering around, trying to get her bearings. Her own wand light was flickering as she wandered the streets. She heard the familiar pop of an apparation and frowned. Fred and Fleur knew that apparating wouldn't work, and wasn't this right by where she showed up?

"Oi..." she called out, seeing the person with the wand. Someone from back home, perhaps?

Draco turned around, and saw another faint light.

"Hullo? Who's there?"

Tonks made her way slowly to the person... and froze when she saw who it was. "Bloody..." she hissed. "Wotcher, Draco... Fancy seeing you here."

Draco wanted to facepalm. Of course he just had to run into somebody from home, and of course, it's the wrong side of the family.

"Hullo Nymphadora. Rather surprised to see you here." While the battle was over back home, he was yet unaware of her fate.
