Fleur was still upset that Bill had disappeared so shortly after he arrived. It was like this place was dangling the one thing she wanted in front of her face and snatching it from her before she could truly remember what it was like to have him around. Her finger fiddled with her engagement ring as she walked towards Millennium Park. Maybe he'd show up again... Maybe he would be there.
Even as she expected nothing, the sight of a familiar shade of ginger hair made the French witch squeak. One of the twins. The closest thing she had to Bill here. She sprinted towards him, trying to figure out which one he was... Fred? George? "Cher!" That was a safe bet. Terms of endearment until she figured out which of the twins it was. "Ma cher!"
Well, what wizard wouldn't enjoy seeing a Veela happily running towards him in the rain?
Must not be stuck in the Muggle world after all, he thought as a grin spread over his face. She grew nearer, and he realized that he recognized this particular Veela. This must be some obscure corner of Diagon Alley he'd never visited before. Or heard of. Weird; he and George should know all the little nooks and crannies of that place by now.
Fleur's smile widened when she realized she was right, it was one of the boys. She flung herself towards him and clung to him. "I'm so glad to see anuzzer familiar face."
It was comforting, a bit, because he was the closest thing she had to Bill right now. Not the exact same... But familiar enough to keep her from completely breaking down.
Oh, he was definitely enjoying this. It was surprising, yes, but Fred was hardly one to waste such an opportunity. He immediately put his arms around her comfortingly. She was obviously strung out over something or other.
Kel was doing a routine scout when she saw a flash of red hair near the bean. She knew that scouting was probably unnecessary during the day, but it sometimes led her to meet some interesting people. Something in her gut told her that whoever was attached to this red hair would be another one of those "interesting" people.
Keeping a hand near her sword hilt, she called out. "Hey! Are you new here?"
Fred blinked and turned, eyes going straight to the sword on this new girl's hip. His eyebrows veritably flew up. No one carried actual swords anymore, save whomever got hold of the Sword of Gryffindor - in other words, Harry, and he was a special case in the first place.
"Likely," he replied, keeping his voice light. "I don't reckon you can tell me where 'here' is, and why, exactly, there is a giant bean staring back at me?"
Kel noticed his panicked expression upon seeing her sword, and inwardly grinned. This would be a much easier meeting if he were a little bit scared of her.
"Some people call it Chicago, but I don't know if that will mean anything to you. That bean is where we all first arrived at some point or another. I'm Keladry of Mindelan, by the way. Who might you be?"
Kel decided to make sure this one wouldn't cause trouble. From all her work in refugee camps, she had had no choice but to learn to spot the pranksters early. Trying to keep the grin off of her face, she let her hand fiddle with her sword hilt in a most disquieting fashion.
"Chicago? Really, we're in America? Oh, George is going to be so mad that he missed this." His grin practically reached from ear to ear. The very idea was amazing enough that he nearly forgot to introduce himself.
"Right, right, introductions. Fred Weasley's the name. Pleased to meet you, Keladry of Mindelan."
