Karrin was exhausted but she wasn't going to let that stop her from trying to find a source to this blackout. It had to mean something, everything that was happening had to mean something! She'd stayed awake for hours to make sure everyone was okay during the darkness and also setting up garlic strands all over the damn hotel. Once the sun had rose she set out to go check out the rest of the town. There were no answers, as she should have guessed, and it was exceptionally frustrating.

Doing what she did everyday, Karrin stopped by the Cloud Gate. Where all of this had started and where people were still showing up from time to time. She never knew what to expect any more but a large, black dragon wasn't on her list.

She stopped several feet away and just starred. Great, dragons. Werewolves, vampires, fairies and now dragons, she thought to herself. Though, it was at the Cloud Gate. Did that mean it was another strange arrival. There'd been that boy with the weird creatures after all. A dragon wasn't much of a stretch ( ... )

Something was approaching. Toothless' ear twitched once, listening to its footsteps. Human, he thought. It didn't sound like the footsteps he was used to hearing - Hiccup's - but this was not similar terrain in any sense, so that was to be expected. Whether it was actually Hiccup or not was still in question, however, so he cracked opened his other eye to see, otherwise remaining still.

It wasn't his friend, he realized in disappointment, but another human. She didn't look overly threatening, like the Vikings of Berk, but he didn't dismiss her outright. Toothless knew they could be tricky things; that was why he'd always been wary, even after Hiccup had started bringing him food.

And this one didn't even have that, he noticed. He watched her from his spot under the mirror-thing, moving only his eyes. He didn't want to give her a reason to attack him, after all, and he didn't have a reason to her, either.

Besides, maybe if he stayed still enough, she would go away, and leave him to wait in peace.

Well this was certainly turning into a fun little stare down. On the plus side the dragon wasn't moving. On the other hand it was now watching her like if she made a bad move it might have something to say about it.

Speaking of which, she wondered if this...dragon was capable of speech. She'd believe anything at this point even if it did seem kind of ridiculous. Actually, considering she'd met a "talking" dog a few weeks ago this didn't seem like much of a stretch. "You're not planning on setting fire to the town are you...or kidnapping any princesses?"

He looked at her in disdain. Humans always assumed that dragons were going to hurt someone, didn't they? If they ever bothered to pay attention, they'd see that they were the ones hurting others, that the dragons were just protecting themselves.

He gave a sniff and shifted a little. If she thought his being still meant he wanted her to talk to him, then she probably wasn't going away anytime soon. But as long as she didn't attack him or bring others to do it for her, he wasn't going to make a move against her, either. He was content to remain in place, watching her cautiously.
