What, no "Night on Bald Mountain" in the playlist? :D nowhere_winry August 25 2010, 03:45:11 UTC
Winry stood by the doorway, peering inside at the decorations and Starr bouncing around near the food. While Rezembool had a fall festival, it involved bobbing for apples and throwing sickles at shocks of wheat. She wasn't sure what to make of the music and decorations.

Chewing on her lower lip, Winry glanced down at the bucket full of masks, then back at the decorations. Starr had been kind enough to ask her to go shopping earlier, and, though they'd never actually gotten the chance to go out, Winry thought this might be a better way to get to know her - and the other people around.

Maybe.

Reaching into the bucket, she picked a mask - purple, with a curl of fluffy feathers off one side - and entered the ballroom.

After getting a slightly better idea of what had just happened (though he still had many questions that probably weren't answerable), Derek walked through the crowd. He wasn't exactly being social more than trying to find the blond woman with the purple mask that had greeted him at the door. And in trying to get into the spirit of things, Derek had grabbed a mask or two and stuck them in his afro. The Agent didn't know what that costume that would be, but he wasn't going to remove his shades. Therefore, this was better than nothing and much better than the cover up he had thought of.

Derek caught sight of her as he hung around the refreshment table nibbling on a cookie. Hoping he wouldn't be disturbing her, he calmly walked up to her. His coffee mug now filled with punch came with him.

"Hi, I'm Derek. Thought I'd better introduce myself after earlier."

"Oh!" Winry started to offer Derek her hand but both of his seemed to be full. "I'm Winry Rockbell. I guess you're new here, huh?"

Perhaps waiting to finish his cookie first before coming over would have been the smarter option, but he didn't want to lose her in the crowd by waiting. Derek gave firm nod instead. "Nice to meet you, Winry."

He looked up for a clock in the ballroom. However, then he realized that wouldn't help him because he hadn't checked what time it was when he arrived... not that his watch would've matched this place's time. "Yeah, about two hours or so at most maybe."

Fleur left shortly after setting up so she could make a grand re-entrance, and change into her costume. Upon returning, she was decked out in a lavish rococo gown reminiscent of Marie Antoinette, with black chiffon acting as a make shift mask.

She understood the precautions, but couldn't help but wrinkle her nose slightly at the garlic as she passed. This was going to be a good night, without any troubles... If she had any say about it. Her wand tucked down into her cleavage, she made her way around the room, inspecting hers and Starr's handiwork, smiling slightly.

Minako managed to find a witch costume just in time for the party. She'd heard about it by word of mouth, really... It would be nice to meet a few more of the locals... Try and figure out a little more of what was going on.

She tugged anxiously on her witch hat and glanced around. While social situations didn't make her anxious, she was still wary of everyone here... Until she could learn to trust them.

Starr was wearing a Cubs baseball uniform. She figured she was in Chicago she might as well dress as something matching that theme. The ballcap was turned a tad side-ways and Starr had even managed to find a bat she could carry around.

She wanted to be of service to the people so she was currently leaving her baseball bat to one side and carrying around a tray of drinks. Mingling and providing service, two birds with one stone.

"Hello, care for a drink," Starr asked with a kind smile.

Minako hadn't noticed the woman approaching until she spoke. She did her very best not to jump at the voice, it was a party after all, and smiled slowly at her. "Oh... Yes, thank you."

She picked one of the drinks off of the tray, inspecting it discretely. She couldn't help but be rather paranoid here, really. "Did you set this up?" she asked softly, attempting small talk.

Glad to see a smile she nodded, "You're welcome."

"Yes. I had some help though," Starr admitted, not wanting to take credit away from Fleur. She realized she hadn't met with this woman before so decided to introduce herself as well, "I'm Starr by the way. What's your name?"

Dahlia entered the party cautiously, the predatory smirk on her lips belying her choice of costume. She had managed to hide her Agiel on her person, out of view to anyone else but still able to be reached at a moments notice.

Carefully replacing the smirk with as innocent a look as she could muster (which was quite manageable with her large doe eyes), she made her way slowly towards the refreshments.

It was a party, and parties were supposed to be fun. On top of that, it was a party Starr had put together, so if it wasn't fun then something really was wrong. So when J heard the slightly predatory lilt to a tune entering the party, he figured it would be better to head it off at the pass now rather than risk the consequences later. It was likely the latest in a long line of stupid decisions, he knew; on the other hand, he'd gotten quite good at making those decisions and even better at surviving them. Here was hoping.

He headed towards the door, glad that his Phantom of the Opera costume, complete with cape and mask, allowed him a little extra theatricality - especially since it seemed he'd be dealing with a woman. Women on the hunt were, in his experience, a lot more dangerous than men. "Good evening," he greeted her with a sweeping bow.

Dahlia blinked at the man in the strange costume. It had taken her long enough to even figure out what "Halloween" was, much less the strange customs that went along with it. But now a masked man with a cape was bowing to her as he greeted her.

She could have him on his knees... A much more respectable greeting... But there were too many people around for her to even consider chancing it. She was, after all, greatly outnumbered. "To you as well," she replied carefully, keeping a steady eye on him.

Oh man he did not like that bit of consideration that had swept into the tune. She was holding back - he could hear that much, at least, and he was grateful for it. If he could distract her and keep her from setting her sights on anybody else at the party, he could consider the night a success.

Of course, surviving it would be nice too.

He rose out of his bow, making sure his charming smile was perfectly in place. "To whom do I owe the pleasure?" His lack of a strong singing voice had kept him off Broadway, but never let it be said that J couldn't act.

Link had heard that people wore costumes on Halloween, unfortunately, Link really didn't know enough about Halloween to pick out a costume of his own, so he just wore what he normally wore, weapons an all, he didn't feel comfortable without them. To those who didn't know him, it sure looked like he was wearing a costume, though.

Link looked at the decorations around the room, most of them reminded him of the monsters he encountered throughout Hyrule. This wasn't like any of the festivals he had been to in Hyrule, and he was a little intimidated because of that. He didn't even know where to start.

Once Billy had heard about the party, he knew he'd be going. It was good to hear about something positive happening, instead of more vampire attacks or faerie attempts at making deals. And besides that, it was another excuse to leave his room.

He'd had to go shopping a few days earlier to take care of the costume part. It had taken some time to figure out what he'd be going as, and in the end, it was as obvious as day. So he went out and got himself a nice brown suit and tie, and spent at least a full day walking around and sleeping in it - and maybe rolling in the dirt and grass in the park, but that was more for fun than anything - to get the thing up to par. And by some stroke of luck, he'd found a fake mustache and a wand at the local costume shop, and with his hair left unbrushed, the look was finished.

The costume was a good enough likeness, Billy told himself as he joined the party. And it was perfect for him, if anyone knew him well enough to get the joke. Remus Lupin really was a good fit for him, even if he didn't have to ( ... )

Link was about to go find where the food was being kept in this party when the man approached him, complimenting his 'costume' "Huh?" he looked up at the man, what did he mean by that? 'Walked out of the game?'

"Oh, I'm... I'm not wearing a costume, sir," He said with a sheepish grin.

Billy blinked down at him. "Right, right, of course you aren't; you're Link, the Hero of Time. I should know better, shouldn't I? And I, dear boy, am the wizard Remus Lupin," he said with a flourish of his wand.

Hey, it was Halloween. Why shouldn't he let the kid have a little fun while he could?
