Gaming night and more

Jan 23, 2007 03:49

A belated thanks to everyone who made the trip up to NH for my gaming night - it was a great turnout (what, 14? With three tables of games running). We had a nice variety of games, from Apples to Apples to Anno 1503 (a Settlers offshoot) to Acquire to two games I am unfamiliar with, Mu (bridge-like in some ways, I'm told) and Tesseract (presented ( Read more... )

That is a fantastic idea, and I'll have to figure out how to make it work!

whatever, lj ate my comment.
I was TRYING to say that if FL in Jan. is anything like Fl. in March, then you should hopefully get Purple Gallinule. and Purple Swamphen......do you mean Common Moorhen? I dunno about names. 0_o
my trip to Florida (only been there once, well twice but one of those times was just like overnight) in March 2003 was absolutely awesome--Roseate Spoonbills, Tricolored Heron, Little Blue Heron, Snowy Egret, White-eyed Vireo, Wood Stork, Glossy and White Ibis.....Palm Warbler (which is pathetic, cuz I still haven't seen it in OR and it's practically annual on the coast here in winter 0_o). oh man. *drools*
have fun! I suspect and hope you get to go to the Everglades? they are TEH best evar. :)

This may shock you, but I saw many birds ;-)

I did make it down to the everglades for a day, and loved (in particular) Anhinga trail, where the birds are incredibly unworried about the people (although the alligators make them nervous).

I added around 10 life birds. Details in the separate post, of course, and (again shocking), there will be pictures

The Purple Swamphen is a non-native introduced bird that is established in a couple places in the area, and can be found in some of the books. It is in the same family as the Common Moorhen (which I saw in plentitude) and the Purple Gallinule (which I saw one of - a lifebird, even though others have seen it up in my neck of the woods), but it was right next to Anhinga trail)

Palm Warblers are one of the three that I have seen many many many up here - Palms, Yellows, and Yellow-rumps. I have seen others, of course, but in much smaller numbers. What did I see in FL? Mostly Palms and Yellow-rumps, and a couple of others, but no life-warblers.

sweet!!! that's awesome. I'm sorry if I came across rude in my comment. :(
yah I saw a bunch of Palm Warblers in FL too...like, in the parking lot of a resort, hopping around! haha.
Hmm, I'll have to check out Purple Swamphen in my books. I wonder if it's in Sibley..
awaiting pictures! :D
