A/N and my fucking iTunes strikes again... the Johnny Cash version of "Hurt" comes on as I start to write

There had been a couple of drops of rain at the funeral.
The real rain didn't come until the sun dropped in the sky and a darkness settled across the land.
Then the rain fell.
Large, bloated droplets that burst on the ground and splattered odd patterns onto everything they covered.
The thunder came with it, sometimes high and fast, almost choking noises, sometimes low, rumbling sounds.
The rain came, and it would not stop.
The night left, and the morning came, and still it was raining.
He looked out the window and saw a few liesurly, high, white, puffy clouds floating across a beautiful blue day.
And the rain came again.
