After reviewing Clara's chart and noticing her stabilization over night, I page Dr. Bohland to the NICU nurses' station. I've tried to avoid her as much as possible since the George fiasco. But she's on my service, whether she likes it or not. And she's actually not as bad with babies as she thinks, whether I like it or not

I report to the NICU station and find Dr. Stevens there and I do my best not to react to it. "You paged me?"

"Dr. Bohland," I nod flipping Clara's chart closed. "Our Gastroschisis patient's stats have stabilized overnight. Can you book an OR and find the NICU fellow, ask if his schedule is clear to scrub in?"

Why the hell can't she do it?

"Yes, Dr. Stevens."

"Great," No attitude. Interesting. "I'm going to check over the last of these post-ops, then prep Clara. Why don't you scrub in with Dr. McManon and I when you're done."
