I've got power on first hill, but I'm also at work and we've got backup generators. our branch in the u district went to backup power earlier tonight.

HELLO TO FAR-OFF EUGENE!

I've played there! Also have friends who like, live there full time and everything. Nice town, really.

There's something about Eastlake that always stays entirely unaffected by power outs. Every town around me has issues but I'm just fine.

Aren't you mostly undergrounded? We sure aren't, so we lose power all the damn time. :-p

Not at all actually, the wires around here you could simply reach up and grab if you were crazy and wanted to. The rats from Lake Union use them like a vast highway system.

We have power, and you're reminding me I want to get a UPS to run 2-3 CPAPS up to 8 hours. Any you'd recommend?

That's a tall order and I don't know the power draw. Really, you need a generator. But it all comes down eventually to kwh and VA. A large tower APC won't even do what you want, not at 120v supply - even assuming, say, that all three combined only draw 50 watts, you're looking at topping out at seven hours of runtime. And given that they often have little heaters and the like... yeah, I doubt it.

Here's a nice little interactive chart though.

Now, if you were insane, you could buy six of those, and double-stack them against each other in a set of chains, and most definitely get what you want. For, like, $7500. And it would quite literally be cheaper to buy an auto-switchover natural-gas whole-house generator.

I go camping with mine a couple of times a year and in at least one campground no generators are allowed, so I picked up a few items to run off battery. My unit has a 12 volt power brick with a coax plug output. Yours may be slightly different, so you may need to adjust accordingly ( ... )
