I go camping with mine a couple of times a year and in at least one campground no generators are allowed, so I picked up a few items to run off battery. My unit has a 12 volt power brick with a coax plug output. Yours may be slightly different, so you may need to adjust accordingly.
At Radio Shack: 1 - cable, 12 volt power point (cig lighter) socket to alligator clamps 1 - cable, 12 volt power point plug to coax power plug to fit CPAP
At a battery supply store (I used Pacific Power Batteries in Everett): 1 - 12 volt deep cycle (marine) battery. An automotive battery is not recommended for this, as those are designed to provide a lot of current quickly and don't work well when fully discharged over a long time. 1 - charger/conditioner (120 volt AC input, alligator clamps output). Whoever sells you the battery should be able to match the charger with the battery.
While the power is on, keep the battery hooked up to the wall outlet via the charger/conditioner. When it goes out, disconnect the charger/conditioner and hook up the battery to the CPAP unit.
Fully charged, it lasts me two or three nights. You'll want to duplicate this setup per person using one.
