Does your insurance cover it? I just go with whoever they cover.

Lame. Windshield repair is not covered under the standard deductible with our plan. Its like 50 bucks.

They are super nice. Give em a call. We've had one windshield and two mirrors replaced there.

There are two deductibles. Collision and Comprehensive. lower you comprehensive to like $100 or less - your rates will barely go up.

then wait a week or so and file a claim, your insurance will take it from there. and a lot of glass places waive the deductible.

good to know...thanks. unfortunately, i don't think my window can last another week or so...but i'm definitely lowering my deductible so this doesn't happen again.

I've used Safelite Auto Glass for both windshield repair and replacements in Bellevue, and been quite pleased with their service. They come to your place to do either repair or replacement - but in general, auto glass placements won't repair a crack that's bigger than a dollar bill, they'll just go straight to the replacement.

i have a 2008 toyota highlander with windows that have heating elements in them so they function better in colder weather (defrost, etc.)...this includes the side mirrors and side and rear windows. strangely, the difference in price between the heating and non-heating windshield was only about $100...

Yeah, there isn't a huge difference between options like that in glass, unless the windshield has a rain sensor in it.

But $1200? Toyota, that's highway robbery. BTW, an aftermarket windshield will do the job and cost less. Crinamex and Safelite are two of the biggest glass makers and supply a lot of the car manufacturers. So if you get your windshield installed and it doesn't sat "Toyota" on it, that doesnt mean it's of a lesser quality.
