Good luck with this project. I hope it entertains you. It should do. If you feel like finishing off those old projects is too much, or it just isn't fun, then cut your losses and leave it. Whilst you may be a bit annoyed with yourself, it's not worth struggling over.
And I know what you mean about there being fewer active people in some fandoms now. One of the reasons I've stopped writing fanfiction is because somehow the rest of the world seems to have moved on! Mostly on to slashfic. *growl and grumble*
