Sarah Palin used a non-word in 2010, in the following Tweet (my boldface):

Ground Zero Mosque supporters: doesn't is stab you in the heart, as it does ours throughout the heartland? peaceful Muslims, pls refudiate

Oi!

It should take longer than one year for a word to have enough common usage to be considered for representation in the dictionary. I think Sarah Palin should have to wait 400 years before anything she says appears in print.

Yes, exactly. While I am dismayed by some of the words that become "real" words through constant usage by the masses (e.g. bling) I understand that, because those words are in constant usage by the general masses, actually defining what those words mean is a good and necessary thing.

But a frigging typo made by someone famous instantly becoming "Word of the Year" and being included in the dictionary is just showmanship, and nothing else.

Palin is an idiot who used the wrong word; it should just stop there.

And yes, it most certainly should have. It shouldn't even have received the attention it did because OMG YOU GUYZ SARAH PALIN MADE ANOTHER MISTAKE LOLOLOLOL. Sheesh.
