While I try to figure out how to get my website to show pictures on DW, have an end-of-year meme.

2010 The Vids
Pump It! (The Losers) - My official Festivids vid for the year. I was really happy with how this turned out (a theme for most of this year, shockingly). I thought it was a lot faster and flashier than I usually do, and it was really fun to work with such over-the-top action source. Plus, a ton of super-hot people.
Cowboy Singer (Deadwood) - This was made in a day for Mlyn as a treat when she was defaulted on at the last minute. I think it shows the lack of time dedicated to it, but I actually still think it's pretty good and captured the way I feel about Jane and Bill's relationship.
A Bad Dream (Hard Core Logo) - My John vid! I have been wanting to make this vid for a couple of years now, and it was great to finally get it done. I think what stands out most strongly in remembering this vid is how helpful the beta feedback was, and how much better the vid is because of it. It also was the first time I did the "throw every related clip on the timeline and just get SOMETHING up" technique and it worked amazingly well for this vid. It actually helped more seeing what was wrong, because then I could identify why and what I really needed there.
Beautiful Struggle (The Wire) - This is the year I finally finished my Wire vid, and for that alone, 2011 was a complete success for me fannishly. I said pretty much everything I wanted to say at the vid post, and all of that still stands. Re-watching this vid is an interesting experience because it's been a couple of months since I have and I am realizing just how much stuff is going on in there. I think it's kind of overwhelming to watch at first, and I'm not sure if that's a feature or a bug.
Overall Thoughts - I'm happy to have completed two vids that have been on my To Vid list for years, and especially since one was The Wire vid that totally freaked me out last year. I think my output was really strong this year, and there's nothing I'm disappointed with. Time continues to be my biggest vidding angst, and that will only get worse in 2012, which is a shame because I'm enjoying vidding again but I never have the energy to do it. Typical.
My favorite of my own vids this year:
Beautiful Struggle.
My best vid this year:
Beautiful Struggle. One of the few years I think these are the same answers.
Vid of mine most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
I don't know...it might be Beautiful Struggle, because I thought there might be a wider audience for Wire vids, but honestly, the comments I got are the best quality comments I've ever received on a vid and asking for more just seems selfish.
Most fun video:
Pump It! That was easy; this was a kind of depressing year for my vids, thematically.
Video with single sexiest moment:
Also easy: when Aisha sits astride Clay in Pump It! and tosses her hair back.
Hardest video to make:
Hmmmm....probably Beautiful Struggle, only because of how long it's been in my head and how much I struggled getting 10 pounds of message into a 2 pound bag.
Most unintentionally *telling* video:
Ummm...hm. I have no idea. A Bad Dream, maybe?
Do you have any goals for the New Year?
So many! But realistically, I am definitely going to get my Festivids vid done and after that it's a crapshoot. I'd LIKE to finish Greensilver's Sweet Charity vid (FINALLY), make a Club Vivid and a Premiere vid for VVC, and then maybe kick out one more, but that is asking a lot. I think I can get at least one more vid done this year after Festivids, it's just a matter of figuring out which one it is.
No fic again this year, though I felt the faint stirrings of wanting to work on my Prison Break apocafic again, so who knows what next year will bring.
If you have any specific questions about any of these vids, feel free to ask! As always, many, many, many thanks and gratitude to my betas and also to all the people who took the time to leave a comment on my work. It's worth repeating, as it is every year: for the people who say they "only" comment and don't produce much or anything - you all are doing a huge service for fandom. Thank you.
