Because here I am posting again. BUT. I know y'all said that "Epitaph One" episode of Dollhouse was interesting, I did not realize it would be THAT interesting. ( Spoilers for season 1 and the episode )
And when you see the final ep of Dollhouse you will wish there was a whole third season in the Epitaphverse. It's fucking awesome, and totally pwned the pre-epitaphverse.
Except for the episode 2.04 - Belonging. That's still my favorite, with the series finale coming in a close second.
I didn't have much of a problem with season 1, but season 2 is so much better. I want you to watch it!
Joss did finally say that that - gasp! The network was interfering! Now how could that be? ;) But I think in the end Joss was able to say stuff and go places he wanted to with the amount of time he was given, which thankfully was twice as long as his last show on that network. So there's that.
I hear the S2 DVDs will have a round table discussion, so that should be fun.
I think we are going to watch season 2. Epitaph One was promising - and everyone's comments about season 2 are compelling - enough that it seems like it'll be worth it.
I found Dollhouse very rewarding, but you kind of have to work on it. Joss didn't make this one easy to watch, or love, but talking for me, I appreaciate it the more for it. It's TV that makes your head hurt, but in a good (thinky) way....
Not up to date with all the parent/child recs, but you might want to check out Parenthood. As a TV show is more on the average side, but it has loads of parent/child relationships in it, including parents trying to help their son with Asperger's have a more fulfilled life, single mum of two, and a guy bonding with the son he never knew he had...
The little girl wasn't Alpha . . . he's mentioned briefly as working with Echo as like a goodie?
I think a lot of the first season's issues (or the ones I had with it) were that a)I found the story-of-the-week stuff mostly boring and b)I never felt like the show's writers got how bad the whole 'dollhouse' thing WAS, even though I surely thought they must. This episode really shows that they did. YES. I think a lot of the problems with Dollhouse point towards Fox interfering waaaaay too much and not allowing the writers to actually go to the dark places they should have gone to make the show more self-aware and less problematic. Fox wanted slick, effortless sci-fi entertainment. Dollhouse was never ever meant to be that kind of show and unfortunately, the way the network tampered with it shows in the seemingly shallow treatment of many issues in the series
( ... )
I think sometimes fandom (in general) puts Joss on a pedestal, forgetting he's human - and he's just a writer on some levels. He has a story to tell. No good writer is immune to making mistakes, even ginormous ones.

Ah! Good to know!
I'm very curious to see season 2 now. It also makes me feel better about Joss in general. Heh.
