Because here I am posting again. BUT. I know y'all said that "Epitaph One" episode of Dollhouse was interesting, I did not realize it would be THAT interesting.
I actually wish Dollhouse the show had been more like this episode, at least in tone. I think a lot of the first season's issues (or the ones I had with it) were that a)I found the story-of-the-week stuff mostly boring and b)I never felt like the show's writers got how bad the whole 'dollhouse' thing WAS, even though I surely thought they must. This episode really shows that they did. I liked seeing the fallout of the characters we'd met (Dominic! You got awesome! And what happened with Boyd and when did he and Dr. Saunders become a thing?) and was intrigued by the post-apocalyptic world that the new characters were in. I think the little girl was probably Alpha, though I don't recall them ever specifying, but it would make the most sense, I think. I am still thinking about the episode, and wondering what happened after. Anyway, I know I'm about a year too late, but if you talked about Epitaph One, could you link it to me? I'd love to read other people's thoughts.
And now based on that episode and some things I read on wikipedia about season 2, I think we're going to actually watch season 2 when it's available on DVD. I genuinely did not expect that. I was happily done with the show. Damn you, Joss Whedon!
PS - THANK YOU all for the great suggestions of parent/child relationships in TV and movies. If you have any more over the next week or two, feel free to keep dropping them in comments. I'll take whatever you've got, any genre. :)
