My very long BSG finale thoughts, let me show you them. ( General mood warning: the more I think about it, the less I like it, and I was already really annoyed out of the gate - Very Strong Opinions Inside! Heh )

I kind of want a quick after-ending tag scene showing them all getting eaten by sabertooth cats and short-faced bears and stomped by mammoths, and clawed by giant ground sloths, because there's a lot of rather nasty predators out where they're going back to the land.

In my version, Hera becomes Mitochondrial Eve because she toddles out of the slaughter scene and gets adopted by the kindly peaceful cave people who have much better sense by any of the Battlestar survivors. SIGH

THE THEMATIC ISSUES, OMG DO NOT EVEN GET ME STARTED. :| :| AND ADAMA IS A HUGE PRICK. AND ALL THE WOMEN GETTING SHAFTED SUCKED. AND GIVING UP TECH IS RETARDED. AND THE GALACTICA BEING ABLE TO MATE WITH THE NATIVES IS JUST SKEEVY.

But I loved Gaius (and Six) and the fact that Helo made it out alive (even if his magical resurrection felt kinda bland) and Tigh's giggles.

I basically agree with everything you said. I was quite disappointed with the finale and I felt that it could have been handled so much better. And your point regarding the female characters is quite concerning. I'm still processing what I saw at the moment...

Since then I have been reading reviews and coalescing my thoughts as I agree with some things and not with others, and realizing more and more that I am left extremely disappointed.

I can't say I'm extremely disappointed, but after reading people's reactions and rethinking aspects of the finale as I work on my own long ass post I am disappointed that some things weren't done better.

And you know how bad the Lee/Kara was handled? I'm writing in defense of them as a couple! O_o

Everything you said about Adama? WORD!
