IJVP - Day 7!

Jan 15, 2006 16:00

We're back on track today. I don't currently foresee not being able to do one-vid-a-day for the remainder, but work is shaping up to be nightmarish this week, so the choice may be taken out of my hands. I'll do my best.

Today's vidlet was suggested by xanphibian, it's an Angel vid to Muse's "Sing For Absolution ( Read more... )

Oh, YAY! Downloading now. (kicking my dialup, but I'm so glad to have found FlashGet, so at least I won't have to download it several times just to get it all)

Ah, dial-up, the bane of LJers! Good luck downloading. :)

I really like this overall too. :) On the first viewing some of the structure, especially the repeated movement in the beginning was a little lost on me (song was part of it since I'd never heard it), but on watching it a few more times, that's one of my favorite sections now. Along with the sarcophagus intercutting and the intercutting at the end with the dreamy looking Fred. And that section where it cuts to Fred shaking on the floor--really liked how that went with the change in tempo.

That's pretty much the whole vid, right? :D It got just a hair shakey for me at around 0:43, maybe because it pulled back motionwise. Although I did really like how Fred turned to look back on the beat. And Wes's face is really pretty expressive at that point.

Oh, and I thought the effects you were expermenting with all really did their part to help reinforce the mood you created. It was also really interesting to see an Illyria vid that used mostly footage of her looking like Fred. I certainly never got them mixed up. :)

The structure really does take some getting used to. I re-watched it today and even just being a day away from it, it felt odd.

Wes is expressive but, yeah, I think he's not moving enough to make that part as strong.

I certainly never got them mixed up.

Hee, you know, I hadn't even considered that, but that's a good point. Kudos to Amy Acker.

::weep::

This was beautifully heartbreaking. The repetitions in the intro and the sarcophagus-hitting cuts broke me. I also liked the Fred-Illyria head up parallel on "my beautiful" and the quick cuts toward the end.

I'm not sure about the jumpcut on "singing", because the line started more softly and lingering, you know? I could be wrong, of course. ;)

I think you're right about the jumpcut on "singing," might have worked better with a crossfade. It would at least soften it.

I'm glad you liked it - that's funny we both did Illyria vids on the same day!

Oh *awesome*. I actually really liked the quick cuts at the end (though I'll echo the general love for the hitting the sarcophagus as well). One of my biggest regrets for the cancellation of Angel (among many) is the loss of the future Illyria and Wes storylines. This vid reminds me so much of why. Thank you.

Thank *you*. It is an awful shame we didn't get to see what they were going to do with Wes and Illyria. I'm sure Joss and David Greenwalt had some thoroughly screwed up ideas for them.

I don't know the source at all, but this vid has made me very curious to watch it now. (What is going on? Who is the blue girl? Is something wrong? Why is the cute guy unhappy? etc etc) Clearly there is angsting happening (always a hook for me, heh). It grabbed my attention even though I had no knowledge of the story specifics. *g*

I love hearing from people who don't know the source and are still intrigued by a video, so thank you! Angel is a great show.
