I love the masking; I do that endlessly in Photoshop, so it's extremely comfortable and just the thing I would do to get two perspectives at once. FCP sounds ridiculously complicated in achieving that, though. Nicely done.
Masking has become something I am very intrigued by; I've messed around with it in Photoshop, but not extensively, just for simple blends. You actually can importa Photoshop masks into FCP, but as I don't have PS on the Mac, I'm not sure it will work coming from the PC. I should give it a try.
FCP has fairly extensive mask capabilities built-in, different types of mattes you can use, at least, to mask, as well as Image Mask capabilities and chroma masks. However there is also a program called Motion which seems to be the Mac version of AfterEffects - and it's just as indecipherable. I'd need a year-long vidding project just to figure Motion out. Which I intend to do some day. Not the projct, the figuring.
I'm glad this worked emotionally; I was a bit worried I would get so caught up in trying new stuff that I'd let the vid itself slip, that's a good lesson to remember, actually. I love the little nod at :32. :)
Like they came in from somewhere bigger and sort of moved to those spotsI think this is how I originally envisioned them, and I definitely think it would work better. I'm pretty sure I could beat FCP into doing it, keyframe the scale and center attributes of each clip to get the movement
( ... )
This is lovely, SDW - sweet and heartbreaking at the same time. The masks are nicely done, and I particularly enjoy the intercuts, because you picked moments that, seen in this context, show a lot more of what Cordelia is thinking and feeling. I adore that this project allows for insight into characters that we normally don't see explored. And your clip choices! My favorite parts are "you held your breath" and "inspite of me".

Yes! That is definitely one of the benefits for me, getting to vid things I wouldn't normally vid. Like Doyle and Cordy. I have a new respect for Doyle now.
In FCP I used one of the mask filters that comes with the program. I'm not sure, honestly, if Premiere has anything that's a one-to-one correlation with that mask filter, but if it did, it would be in the filters section of the program. You can also build your own mask, which I saw you actually linked to today on that website of sassykitten's. :)
