I'll have to come back and read the fic later, but I so agree with you about Conan. He and Craig Ferguson are about the only late night hosts I find actually hilarious.
At this point I sort of hope FOX does give him an offer and he goes, because they'd take care of him SO much better, even if he doesn't get the status that NBC would give him.
Someone was telling me--and it could be wrong--that he has a guaranteed contract with NBC, and regardless of whether he's on the air or not, for the remaining years of his contract, they have to pay him his full paycheck. Something like 80 million. But if he goes to another network, then whatever he makes there will be taken out of the guaranteed amount from NBC. So what he really should do is go to FOX (or wherever) and agree to work for one dollar a year, forcing NBC to pay him to work on another network. lol! I have to think they'd have some sort of disclaimer in there to prevent that, but who knows? It would sort of be a thing of beauty if it could happen.
You know, I sort of just started getting into Craig? I thought he was HILARIOUS doing stand up and on Drew Carey but never really caught his late night show. He's a hoot!
All of these clauses in his contract make it seem like they were gearing up for a situation like this and they wanted to have a fall back in there in case they had to smooth things over.
But to me, this appears to be more about integrity and about Conan's ambitions than it is about money. What he said about wanting nothing more than to do a good job on The Tonight Show was really touching and speaks to his character.
I sincerely hope that he doesn't go to Fox, although he has a great relationship with them. I think that will kill him. Late night shows on Fox are really crummy, as far as I'm concerned. Actually, wait, I'm only judging based on MAD but still!
Oh god, that fic, that fic. Amazing. You write poetry, my friend. I love the aching sense of loneliness, and the longing that is so obviously there between them. And the helplessness that Elliot feels to keep his distance, even though it's not told from his POV. They are so locked together, even though they can't be together like you know they want to, and that just... AUGH. It's why this pairing just haunts us.
Speaking of Tim Gunn, how much are you hoping that Project Runway will reclaim all the mojo it lost last season just by being back in NYC? Also, Jenn hooked me up with a truly awesome fic about Tim...his secret diary from last season. So win: http://archiveofourown.org/works/33131
Thanks. I want to write something with more substance, but these short little ditties keep coming to me. I don't know. Blah.
Okay, well... here's the thing about TProject Runway. I've scouted out all of the new contestants and I've been reading the blog posts and the articles leading up to it and it seems like this season is just going to be par for the course.
I hope what I've been hearing is wrong because seriously, I have an unhealthy addiction to this show and I couldn't take another season that was like the one previous.
...here's hoping Tim's gone COMPLETELY stark white though. Couldn't stand that cigarette-stained hair last season!
...and that fic is HILARIOUS. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing.
The little ditties suit you so keep 'em coming! ;) I'm currently so disenchanted with SVU that this is the first fic I've read in weeks. Le sigh, stupid show. Le sigh.
Ok, so as long as this season isn't somehow worse than last (oh, woe), then I think I'll be ok (I'll consider it an up-swing). And seriously, if the contestants make Tim lose his shit again, I'll be cracking some skulls on his behalf. Also, that fic was so awesome I was hearing Tim's voice in my head for HOURS after reading it. ;)
Ohhh, the AGONY. I just might go have a little weep while I smoke out my own bedroom window.
And I'm too enraged at that inconsiderate prick Jay Leno to comment as eloquently as Conan did. I cannot be a rational adult in this situation. But just....EFF OFF NBC.
...I was smoking out of my bedroom window when I came up with that idea. Woe. That is so pathetic of me, but I had to share it with someone, haha.
I'd like to think that most of this nonsense is coming from the NBC execs and not Jay himself because-though I don't find him all that funny-I like the guy, you know?

No shit, I don't want to see Tim as worked up as he was last season. Will we have our post-ep discussions this time around, too? PLEASE OH PLEASE?!?

Also I AGREE 100%. I THINK WE SHOULD ALL MARCH UP THERE AND SLAP NBC IN THE FACE, PERSONALLY.

...it would be so much easier if Conan were still in NYC, to stage this show of support.
DAMN IT TO HELLS, L.A.!
