Sam being fine after that much blood loss really irked me, so I'm glad you addressed it!

And yeah, Dean going back to kill the vamp while Sam was dying...wrong, wrong, wrong!

I love Jody, and you gave her a really critical role here, one that feels like she would really do for the boys.

When I found out that a man Sam's size has about two gallons of blood, then looked at what was in the buckets and jars at his feet - no way should he have been conscious, let alone walking and talking. That's when this fic started to percolate. *g*

As for Dean going back to kill the vamp while Sam was dying... that was tough to write. Even as I typed it, the not-Season-9-voice in my head was yelling, "Turn around, look after your brother!" Damn that Cain's mark.

I adore the relationship between Sam and Jody. I really hope we see that grow in Season 10.

A really important and well written tag. As usual the show just skipped over the fact that Sam had lost enough blood to almost kill him.

I also liked how you had both POVs covered with this. There are so many people who are very black and white about the whole Gadreel thing and they are either 100% on Sam's side or 100% on Dean's. It's not that clear cut and you inserted that so well without hammering us over the head with it. I can see both sides quite easily.

I always love Jody and she's a great voice of reason here.

There's no way I could see Sam and Dean's situation as black and white; Dean went through such agony over his decision in the Season 9 premiere - he's the poster boy for doing the wrong thing for the right reasons. And Sam had a right to be mad, but he did say he wanted to stay... Oy! All that whirling around in my head turned into this fic. Lovely to hear you enjoyed it. Thank you so much!

What a great coda to that episode. I wish Show would occasionally have there be consequences to serious injuries, this and Dean's miraculously healing leg coming to mind. Great way to use Jody, too. She's the best female character since Ellen imo, and she's really good for the boys.
