I think I've figured out what to make of this new, not-exactly-improved Chloe, which is that she's suffered psychological trauma and has developed some unpleasant coping mechanisms as a result. It's... not exactly a conventional reading of her character arc, I think? But it makes a lot of sense to me. Plus, embracing Chloe's downward spiral helps ( Read more... )

Love the review! My problem with Chloe's whole dark arc was that the story writers didn't have the courage to stick with it - to spell out for all to hear that the ends don't justify the means, not to mention that her ends weren't all that admirable in the first place.

As for your poll, I thought S9 was the best season ever - especially after the finale. I also adore S5, but would just as soon forget that the Lexana mess of S6 ever occurred.

ITA about Chloe. I don't know if you ever watched Buffy, but at least Willow got to hit rock bottom, even if they muffed her resolution. They've run out of episodes to deal with Chloe's issues... though there's room for post-series fanfic! Heh.

I keep hearing S9 was good, better than the current season. I'm partial to S6 just for Oliver and Lois/Oliver. *g*
