Patrick makes everything better!

So I was telling some fangirl friends tonight about the outing I have on tap for tomorrow, for my friend's birthday, at her request. She wants to go to this local fake Colonial town, where they dress up in period costume and, like, weave baskets and stuff. And by local, I actually mean on Staten Island. Which is not local at all. I'm hoping for ( Read more... )

omg, I know what colonial town you're talking about? I just moved to Staten Island for the next 2 months for my rotation in pediatrics, and they handed us this tourism guidebook to Staten Island on our first day. You could also try the random Tibetan museum that is also on the Island. Random, right?

Hey, it's reassuring to me that at least someone else has heard of the place! One of the friends I had dinner with tonight has spent lots of time on Staten Island. Her family is from there. And she'd never heard of it.

You know, I'd probably enjoy the Tibetan museum more. And, yeah, wow, totally random!

I'm lame because that actually sounds like fun to me, lmao. *shrug*

I do approve of the story idea, though!

I did leave out some of the details why this is unfun. My friend wants to do this, not necessarily because it's what she wants, but because she's been on this kick lately for her kids to have educational experiences, which they don't want to have. So there will be two kids along on this outing who'd rather be anywhere else.

But at least I will have thoughts of Patrick to get me through!

Ahh, you're right, that does sound unfun. Bored kids are the worst.

Okay, so it was more fun than I was expecting it to be. Not that I'm anxious to go again. (My friend is already talking about when we go back...) But the tour guide lady was cool. And I did get to tell myself a fun Pete/Patrick story. *g*

I am a nerd, so I can't help but wonder why the fantasy would be about Civil War era Patrick when the place is a Colonial town? Why not make him Revolutionary War-era Patrick so it's historically accurate?

I'm the worst fantasizer EVER. Sorry!

Hee. I actually think this illustrates why I'm not the right audience for the colonial town experience. Historical accuracy is totally wasted on me!

But once I got there, I did have a more period-appropriate fantasy about Pete as the tavern keeper and Patrick as the schoolmaster. :)

Just last night I was talking with some friends about seeing celebrities and one was saying she saw Pete & Ashley when they were at a Walgreens in Chicago. This was a while ago. She confirmed they are tiny.

You know, I'm the least observant person ever. I could practically fall over Pete and Ashlee and never notice it was them. But I'm glad your friend was paying attention! I'm so not surprised to hear that tininess is confirmed.
