So I was telling some fangirl friends tonight about the outing I have on tap for tomorrow, for my friend's birthday, at her request. She wants to go to this local fake Colonial town, where they dress up in period costume and, like, weave baskets and stuff. And by local, I actually mean on Staten Island. Which is not local at all. I'm hoping for rain so we can go to brunch and a movie or a museum or something more fun. Although I swear if we do go to the colonial town, I will have a good attitude. I want my friend to be happy!
My dear
alizarin_nyc came up with the perfect way to make the trip more fun. She said I should tell myself a story about Patrick as a Civil War soldier, who is all lost and injured and stuff on his way home from war. And he ends up at the door of farmer Pete, who is very lonely, left all alone with just his cows. (Except I wasn't so sure that a very lonely Pete should be left alone with livestock, so maybe the cows ran away or were stolen or something.) Pete has to nurse Patrick back to health, and of course they fall in love. And the cows eventually come home, now that it's safe again.
And they live as happily ever after as two people can before the invention of modern antibiotics.
Patrick makes everything better!
