Hello, and welcome to another episode of "Let's Play Suikoden Tierkreis!", Lady Nighteyes presiding. Last week, a couple of cool people bailed us out of some serious trouble, then suggested an alliance. This time, everyone talks about it.

...I feel like there should be some reason not to join up with the Magedom. It doesn't feel like a very complicated piece of plotting. I'm aware that branching storylines may not be within the capacity of this kind of game, though. Although perhaps it should be, for a game about free will vs. destiny.

Also, is it just me or does the implication that Dirk's going to join the Order feel flagrantly out of character? Like, there has to be a traitor character, so let's just contort one into that role like a puppet! I can't remember if the game actually goes that route, though. Once again this would impact on whether the game's writers are more like their heroes, or more like the Order.

Zodiac Company is relevant, at least, and sounds pretty cool, so I'll go with it. Beats out Orange Company, for sure.

Well, I mean, some of 'em (Logan, f'rinstance) act a little nervous about it. [AMBIGUOUS SPOILERS REDACTED]I think the main point of making it seem like a ~big decision~ we need to think about is to give us a little advance warning that the Magedom isn't entirely saintly, and while they're on the same side in the sense that we both hate the Order's guts, they may not be totally trustworthy even if Asad and Chrodechild are. But yes, the irony of having a linear storyline in a game about free will had, in fact, occurred to me.

I didn't seem wildly out of character to me, but I can see where you're coming from.

Re: "Orange Company": Blame Jowy Atreides. Worst best friend ever, and he offers stupid name suggestions.

It didn't want to let me call them that. It was most bizarre and distressing. Also, I approve of this explanation, because finger-quotes are hilariously annoying.
