Are there any games in which status conditions are as good as they are in Pokemon? It's the only truly fair RPG I've ever encountered.
I am astonished at how easy it was to obtain both the boat and the visa. Most games would shuffle you around for hours rather than make up more plot to fill the time instead. But then again it's not all that good a boat, is it?
I was busting a gut through the whole thing, and lemme just tell ya, I wish Visas could just be bought on some random street vendor, shouldnt the government (in this case probably the knights) be able to dispense those things? Clearly this game is more adult that one might think if it dwells in themes such as Visa black market.
Also I wouldnt really call Pokemon being fair, it makes sense that you'd wake up after someone slugs you across the face, heck even in WC3 you can see that and that's an RTS. A status effect that works permanently comes off as being more cheap than balanced.
I was thinking of status effects which actually work on your enemies and are useful, rather than just being a waste of time and MP. And enemy-protagonist parity in general.
P.S. So as not to hijack the comments with Pokemon issues, what, earthyyu, would you say is the general status in combat in this game of enemy-protagonist parity? Are most fights fair, or is there the usual pattern of regular enemies being too weak to pay attention to and bosses being ridiculously overpowered in comparison?
I'd say at first Atelier Iris has the usual weak enemies and ridiculously overpowered bosses pattern. As you get further in game, however, you'll find that the enemies get rather ridiculous as well.
During my first time playing this I found myself swarmed by demons, vampires, elementals and dragons ALL AT ONCE. AND THEY USUALLY ALWAYS GET TO ATTACK FIRST.
