I hate it when shows we love get cancelled. :-( My sympathies to you. It's just as bad as loving a character and having them die during the film *ahem, Tristan, Norrington, Haldir, etc...*
Thanks, hon. I may have to become more than a casual viewer of White Collar now.
I'm hoping that at least we'll get out of this with everyone alive. Though the showrunner has been tormenting us for months with hints of tears and heartbreak.
And my very first online fandom (A&E's "Horation Hornblower" series of movies) actually rewrote the source material just so they could kill off my favorite character. Apparently TPTB didn't like that he, a non-canon character, was more popular than one of the canon characters. That hurt.
I guess it depends on whether or not they actually didn't know they wouldn't get another season. Because in that case they at least would need to keep the door open...I expect it to be some maybe ending...where you can choose for yourself.
No kidding! Just when I thought this f**king month couldn't suck and/or blow more than it already has.
I know the corporate power that be won't give a flying rat's ass but I will not be watching TNT any more. I had a passing interest in "Falling Skies" but that passing interest has just passed me by.
"Leverage" was all I watched on TNT. I tried "Falling Skies" (because SciFi), but I have discovered I don't have time for serialized TV any more. If I have to watch every freaking episode in perfect order to know what's going on … no. Besides, there wasn't anything in FS I haven't seen a thousand times already, and none of the characters reached me. I'm a character junkie. Give me characters I like, and I'll watch your derivative, by the numbers TV (hello, NCIS and NCIS:LA).
But "Leverage" wasn't TV by the numbers. I adored the characters, but I also adored the writing. The show had heart and brains. And it respected that we have brains.
This sucks so much, I don't even have the right words. I have never done fandom like this before, and I doubt I will do it again. (well, maybe).
Mostly I think it's depressing, telling us it will be decided in January, getting everybody's hopes up, have people tweet and vote and post and everything and then punch us right before Christmas. Morons. And other names I'm not gonna write down...
Well, I'm a hopeless fangirl and have been fanficcing since before I even knew that's what I was doing. And I'll keep writing Leverage fic until I just can't do it any more.
But, yeah, it blows that TNT apparently didn't have the guts to come out before this and just say, "we're done," instead of keeping everybody hanging.
It also blows that they haven't said why they're caneling. No reason, no excuse, nothing. Just "it's time to say goodbye." Why? Lower ratings? Well, maybe that had something to do with their failure to promote the show and then jacking around with the timeslot. Couldn't be money. Dean Devlin mostly financed the thing. Want to concentrate on other shows? Like what? Other than R&I (which I've never watched but have heard some good things about), the rest of TNT's shows suck.
My problem is probably that I'm very hung up on this one guy ;), so I guess I won't be fanficcing before he's got a new show, lol. But I'll always have RPS, it's not like I've written much Leverage fic anyway. So, you and tel will finish the fic you've been teasing me with, yes? Please?
On everything about TNT - you are so damn right. I don't really know what shows they have. I tried R&I, but the thing is I've read some of the books and that kills the series for me. I somehow can't do that, even if they have nothing in common.
I'll give you the Norwegian equivalent: Drittsekker!!!
Drittsekker. I like it! I'm always up for learning obscenities in new languages, lol.
And, yes, tel and I will definitely finish the fic. And I'll keep writing Leverage fic for as long as Eliot speaks to me. I wrote Magnificent Seven fic for years after they cancelled that show. ;)
I know some fans are hoping another network picks it up, like USA (where, really, it would be a great fit). I'm not that hopeful, though. I've been down the cancellation path too many times.
I hate this. I watch other shows, but Leverage was the only one I truly loved.

But they are negotiating with other networks - there's still hope :(

But I'll believe it when I see it.

Screw you, TNT. You've lost another viewer.
