A good week to die

Aug 17, 2005 07:12

When I got back from the first preliminary bout at NPS I got a bunch of emails saying, "Hey, I realy liked your barbershop poem today", which was interesting because

a) I didn't read my "barbershop" poem (actual title: Black Country Club) at NPS, and ( Read more... )

Ah yes, the anthology. I never quite remembered to ask if contributors got a free copy or two. So, do we? And if so, where do I send the postage?

Ah, something I can answer!

Contributors get a free copy and they were mailed out RIGHT before NPS by Steve Marsh. I've heard from most that they have them in hand, and mine was in my box when I got home Sunday afternoon.

If you don't have it by the end of the week, hit up Steve Marsh.
He may not have your most current address (but that'd be just like you, Buck).

I'm sure he doesn't, as it's just recently changed. Where might I contact Mr. Marsh? Danka for the info...

Awwwwwwwwwwwww...thanks!

Just so you know:
One of the things I've picked up on while working on my manuscript for the publisher is that you start off with a really strong couple of poems, then dot the manuscript with them, then end with a really killer poem.

You're in the back for a reason.

How's THAT for love?

Awww! That has to be the best compliment ever, and as for love that's a lot of it. :o) Thanks so much, brotha! :o)

I hear what you are saying on all three counts.

The program I'm thinking of would be computerized RE #1, and I don't want to present it to anyone until I run this year's numbers through it and see what happens.

RE 5 by 3 I understand the SMs voted it in narrowly, and I DO NOT WANT any teams not allowed into NPS, so if that is what we have to do, then I guess that is what we have to do.

Re #3, I'm still all for it, and other poets have commented that NO poems from finals night should be repeated unless they are substantially revised. Again, I'm thinking here of "poets are audience too." I was there when you read your piece off the page, and it was beautiful, BTW. It's less about competition for me than it is about the integrity of slam itself.

I will post these on the PSI forums as soon as I get a chance.

I had you pegged as Chaotic Good!

And Hey, save some of the publishing world for the rest of us, eh?

Congrats!

I actually wanted to say chaotic good because it truly captures me better.
but Neutral Evil rolled off the togue a little better.
Next time I'll be more honest.

Thanks!
