I have done a fair amount of research on just the walking/hiking/running of America. It has been done numerous times, and not just by Forrest Gump.

Scott - there was once a poet who walked from some southern state to New England with a mule performing poetry along the way. Or maybe the mule passed away, and this was just planned? Damn, I can't remember, but Steve might. This sounds like a fascinating project, please keep the wheels spinning.
